Cubis Is Excited to Go Fishing with Dad!

Cubis woke up before sunrise, eyes sparkling with excitement. Today wasn’t just any day—it was the day he had been waiting for all week. He was going fishing with Dad! He quickly brushed his fur, tied his little scarf, and rushed to the door, barely able to sit still. “Dad, are we ready yet?” he asked eagerly. Dad chuckled, packing the fishing rods and a small picnic basket. “Patience, Cubis. Good fishermen are calm.”

As they walked toward the peaceful lake, Cubis skipped beside him, holding a tiny bucket for the fish he dreamed of catching. The morning air was fresh, the sky painted with soft colors of dawn, and little birds chirped as if cheering them on. When they reached the lake, Dad showed Cubis how to cast the line. Cubis tried, but his first throw landed right beside his feet. He giggled nervously. “It’s okay,” Dad said gently. “Try again.”

This time, Cubis focused, took a deep breath, and swung the rod carefully. Plop! The line landed in the water. His smile widened with pride. They sat side by side, feet dangling near the water, waiting quietly. Cubis whispered, “Dad, do the fish know we’re here?” Dad smiled. “They do, and they’re deciding if you’re a kind fisherman.”

Minutes passed. Suddenly—tug! Cubis felt a pull on his line. His eyes widened. “Dad! Dad! I got one!” With Dad’s guidance, Cubis carefully reeled it in. A small, shiny fish appeared, wiggling gently. Cubis gasped in amazement. “It’s beautiful!” After admiring it, Dad asked, “Shall we keep it or set it free?” Cubis thought for a moment, then nodded. “Let’s let it go home to its family.” Together, they released the fish back into the water.

Dad placed a proud hand on Cubis’s shoulder. “You’re not just a fisherman today—you’re a gentle one.” They spent the rest of the morning laughing, sharing snacks, and talking about dreams.

As they walked home, Cubis held Dad’s hand tightly. “Can we come again?” he asked. Dad nodded. “Anytime, Cubis.” That day, Cubis didn’t just catch a fish—he caught a memory, forever treasured in his little heart.
