One warm afternoon, Monkey Lyly returned from playing at the neighbor’s house with a very unusual expression. She wasn’t jumping excitedly or begging for snacks—she was walking slowly, hugging something tightly to her chest. Her mother noticed right away. “Lyly, what are you hiding?” she asked gently.
Lyly hesitated, then revealed a tiny pink shirt—clearly made for a human child. It belonged to the neighbor’s daughter. Mom blinked in surprise. “Why do you have that? Did they give it to you?” Lyly shook her head shyly and covered her face with her hands.
Mom tried to put the shirt on Lyly, but the little monkey’s ears turned red with embarrassment. She squirmed, covered her tummy, and turned away as if the whole world was watching her. “Come on, Lyly, it’s just a shirt,” Mom said, utterly confused. But for Lyly, it was a serious matter.
You see, while playing with the neighbor’s daughter, Lyly had spilled juice on herself. The kind-hearted neighbor had lent her the shirt to stay clean. But when Lyly saw herself in it, she felt so strange—like she wasn’t a monkey anymore, but a little human! She kept pulling at the sleeves, unsure how to move.
Mom gently buttoned it anyway, determined to understand. As soon as the shirt was on, Lyly froze like a statue. She refused to look in the mirror. When Mom tried to compliment her, saying, “You look adorable!” Lyly shook her head, embarrassed beyond words. She even attempted to hide behind the curtains, peeking out with only her eyes showing.
The funniest moment came when Mom offered her a banana. Usually, Lyly would snatch it immediately—but this time, she daintily took it with two fingers, like a polite little lady, then quickly ran away so no one would see her eating in such a funny outfit.
Mom couldn’t help laughing and scratching her head. “She wears hats, scarves, even sunglasses… but a shirt makes her shy?”
In the end, Lyly returned the shirt, relieved to be back in her fur. But that day, everyone learned one thing: even monkeys have their fashion limits—and Lyly’s was definitely one pink shirt too far!
