I’m So Sorry… Lyly! Monkey Lyly Lost Faith in Her Mother Because She Broke Her Promise

Monkey Lyly adored her mother more than anyone in the world. Every morning, she followed her everywhere—helping pick fruit, grooming her fur, and cuddling during naps. Lyly trusted her mother completely, especially when it came to promises. But one day, everything changed.

It began with a simple promise. Lyly’s mother had told her they would go to the river in the afternoon to play and pick sweet mangoes—Lyly’s favorite treat. Lyly spent the whole morning waiting eagerly, excitedly preparing little leaves to carry the fruit. “Promise you won’t forget, Mama?” she asked. Her mother smiled and said, “I promise.”

But as the day went on, unexpected guests arrived at their home. Lyly’s mother became busy entertaining them, preparing food and talking for hours. Lyly waited patiently at first, then nervously… then sadly. The sun began to set, and still no river, no mangoes, no adventure.

When her mother finally came to her, Lyly turned away, eyes filled with tears. “You forgot,” she whispered. Her mother tried to explain, “I had so much to do, Lyly…” But the young monkey’s heart was broken. “You promised,” she said, trembling. “You said you wouldn’t forget…”

For the first time, Lyly wouldn’t hug her. She sat alone, feeling abandoned and betrayed. That night, she wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t play—her trust had cracked. Her mother watched, heart aching, realizing she had hurt her child more deeply than she imagined.

The next morning, Lyly’s mother gently approached her with a basket of fresh mangoes and soft flowers. “Lyly,” she said softly, “I broke my promise… and I’m so sorry. You are more important than anything. I should never have forgotten.” Tears welled in her eyes.

Lyly hesitated, her little heart torn. But when she saw her mother’s sincere sadness, she slowly moved closer. Her mother wrapped her in a loving hug. “From now on, when I promise… I will keep it.”

Though the disappointment still lingered, Lyly laid her head on her mother’s chest. Forgiveness didn’t erase the pain—but love began to heal it. And together, they quietly walked to the river, hand in hand, rebuilding trust step by gentle step.
